Dancing Daisy goes live!
I'm giving you blog followers a little advanced opportunity to place your orders for Dancing Daisy now. Her official sales start on the 30th but as I'll be away at the Hullabaloo and will be making preparations and travelling all day tomorrow, I've just set up her sales buttons on my website (glad I did too - it's taken hours!!) so anyone can order now but I've not announced this yet so you can nip in and order first if you'd like. If you're not planning on ordering but like the model, I also just uploaded a selection of photos of her which you can see in the gallery on her page here.
So, I'll announce her sale officially when I get a chance which is likely to be tomorrow evening but I thought I'd let you know via my blog first!
If you have any problems with the buttons please let me know, I've had issues with PayPal today, I'm pretty sure I've solved it however I would greatly appreciate if you notice anything that is not right.
Here's a link to the Sales page: http://www.kelly-savage.com/sales.html
Sorry about the lack of photos in this post, I'm not at my usual PC and can't work out the uploading procedure on this laptop, doh!
Tomorrow I travel to Newmarket to the National Stud to prepare for The Utterly Horses Hullabaloo three day model equine extravaganza which starts on Friday! The largest event of its kind in the UK, I'm really looking forward to being a part of its second year :)

Hullabaloo Preparations
Howdy all, how is your Summer coming along? Here in England it’s been a bit of a scorcher compared to the last few years!
As you may or may not be aware, on the 30th August a three-day spectacular of all things model horses will get under way in Newmarket. The Utterly Horses Hullabaloo was amazing last year and from what I’ve heard on the grapevine, it’s going to be even better in its second year!
As with last year, I am involved. I’ll be running two workshops over the event; Building an Armature and Sculpting 101, both aimed at budding sculptors and including hints, tips and money-saving ideas to get you started on your way to a finished clay model.
I will also be doing some live sculpting at the event on a new model that nobody knows about yet! It’s a bigger model and quite different from my usual er… foal-ish types! I can’t wait to share it with everyone at the event and will be able to share pics of it afterwards too!
So, let’s get some piccies on the go! My main objective this year was to put in a good lot of preparation before the event to help keep things simpler when I’m there. I’ve bought a few bits to help me with this including this little moneybox – it’s purple, which is just plain awesome!
I also bought these. It’s a rubbish photo (sorry) but this is a pack of business card holder. A bit dull you might think, but these will allow me to give credit to all of the artists that have been involved in the creation of my sales models….
…yes, I have been a very busy girl talking with artists across the globe since last year to bring a colourful selection of beautiful models by a wonderful array of finishwork experts. I will have models finished by:
- Donna Chaney and her team at Animal Artistry Alchemy
- Mindy Berg
- Karen Zorn
- Deb Brown
- Amanda Greaves
- Anne Healion
- Clare Stokes
- Gail Aspinwall
- …and possibly even me!
I’ve been posting a selection online on Facebook (sorry, I just haven’t had time to post to FB, my website and here, not enough hours in the day!) so here are the items that have been posted so far:
Dancing Daisy bags, carefully created by Beccy Fielding of http://beccysponybags.weebly.com.
Beccy has only recently discovered that she can translate her incredible skills as a seamstress into something hobby related! She has started making Pony Bags and I asked her is she could help to give my Dancing Daisy models a safe way to travel. Dancing Daisy is tricky as she has a base and her legs are long and thin and foal-like, so she shouldn’t really travel attached to it. Becky not only came up with the perfect solution, but she also found the PERFECT fabric, with lovely daisies and, more importantly, sparkles!! The sparkles are soft so will not damage the paintwork too
Dancing Daisy painted by Mindy Berg to this beautiful roan. This model is currently romping across the Atlantic and I can’t wait to meet her!
Buttons – a china Union Jack model glazed by Donna and her team at Animal Artistry. This little chap is sold but will be on display at the Hullabaloo.
Ninja! – a resin Union Jack painted by Amanda Greaves to this lovely soft baby bay pinto. This little guy has been shown successfully this year and comes with his NAN/BMECs cards.
My UHH Auction donation – this china Union Jack model has been given a decorative set of clothes by Donna and her team. He will be offered at the Auction on Saturday 31st August. Drop me a line if you are interested in bidding on him, as there are restrictions on certain proxy bids this year.
Spotlight – this handsome Union Jack resin was brought to life by Gail Aspinwall of the US. Gail’s work is well known around the world and I feel very privileged that she has painted this model. I am hoping to make a smaller, more practical diorama for this little chap as the greens really set off his intricate paintjob!
Acorn – I won’t mind if this girls comes home with me, this is a Very Little One (less than 1” tall!) that was painted by Mindy Berg. I’ve had her in my collection for a little while now and will be offering her for sale along with the other models, but I won’t be sad if I have to keep her, she’s a special little model to me.
Storm Cloud was also brought to life by Mindy Berg, he is a few-spot appaloosa that I requested and Mindy nailed the colour perfectly! Storm Cloud is now sold, I resisted but his new owner REALLY wanted him. He will be on display at the Hullabaloo though if you’d like to see him.
Dancing Daisy by Anne Healion (unnamed as yet) – this little lady will be frolicking onto my sales table at the Hullabaloo, but she may have a base different to the one pictured.
Vanilla Skies is a china Union Jack, Donna chose his colour for me and I just adore it, he’s very handsome and will be available to see at the Hullabaloo and to purchase if not sold before.
Finally (for now…) I have this feisty little lady that I have named Ruby (her new owner may change the name but she just looks like a Ruby to me). Painted by Deb Brown she has a lovely smooth finish and a gorgeous rich chestnut coat.
But that’s not all…
I feel like I should repay all of you who subscribe to my blog that are not on Facebook, I’m so sorry to have neglected you for so long, so here is a sneak peek of a couple more faces that will feature at the Hullabaloo:
Albert and Victoria – Finally!! I’ve had a few issues with my rubber that has cost me a lot of time and failed moulds for this pair, so I am VERY happy to be able to say that I now have a perfect mould and am making casts. I will have a selection of these at the event, including this rather fetching violet pair.
Mosaic is a china Union Jack in a gorgeous bay pinto! He will be available to view and/or purchase at the Hullaballoo.
Little Voyager is a very special model. He is a Little One china model. Originally a bisque that I received from Joanie Berkwitz when she did the Little One china edition, I sent him off to Karen Gerhardt for a new coat. I’d always seen Little One as a baby black snowcap appaloosa and Karen has done a stunning job. I’ll be picking him up from his lengthy travels (Customs…need i say more!) at the Hullabaloo so he will be on show there, but will not be available for sale as he will be coming home to live with me.
Finally (really this time), I have another Deb Brown, and another Snowcap Appaloosa model. This time a palomino, this is Tickles, a Dancing Daisy model that I will be posting to Facebook over the next few days, but you see her here first!! Tickles has a lovely white blaze on her face that you can’t see in this photo, she also has a little sprinkle of white on her rump that you just want to scratch and tickle!
There will be more models even than this at the event, I am waiting on a few more to arrive or be completed, I will be casting more Albert and Victorias along with a secret model that I can’t show you yet (it’s small, VERY colourful and takes after a certain little colt I know…)
Jasper will, of course be making an appearance along with the Crabbet Arab mare work in progress and the new sculpture which I can’t say about just yet.
I hope I’ve made it up to you with all these pictures and secrets, I’ll post more pics of the sales models and items that will feature at the Hullabaloo soon if I can!
