You may or may not be aware of the Utterly Horses Hullabaloo, announced on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/notes/utterly-horses/utterly-horses-hullabaloo/10150362579534259
I’ve been chatting with Becky from Utterly Horses these last few months, I am sworn to secrecy on the project(s) we’ve been talking about, but I will be involved with this event in one way or another and am EXTREMELY excited about it!
I’m sorely behind with updating you via my blog, wedding plans have been rather taking over my life recently! Here’s a quick low-down on where I’m at:
The Babysitter: This little Madam has been very well received in the UK and Europe, Horsing Around are casting like fury to keep up with the demand for her. Thank you so much to everyone who has sent me lovely comments on her or placed an order. You should see more painted copies popping up soon as those that have received their copies have the finishwork done on them. If you’ve not met this filly/mare yet, here she is:
Here’s a pic of her other side:
And this pic, though blurry, shows her scale a little better:
Full details can be found on my website here.
In other news, the British Model Equine Championship show, or BMECs, was held on 8th October. I provided the medallic awards to compliment the glassware and rosette awards for the Top Ten winners in each section. I’m pleased to report they went down very well and I feel that the wine-gum style of mini-award is here to stay, though I have a few cool new ideas for next year’s show already!
For the larger medallion, I found the opportunity (via a couple of VERY late nights) to add some show-tack and a microscopic little rosette. Unfortunately, as most of the work on these was done during the night I only have night-time photos, but if you click on this photo for a larger view you should be able to see the details:
To be honest, I could write a whole post about these as I found some interesting quirks whilst making them. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to share this with you soon.
I’ve actually enjoyed having a week or so away from sculpting or casting whilst I’ve been distracted with all-things-bridal, but tomorrow I’ll be receiving a new batch of Babysitter models to prepare and get sent out to their new homes and I am yet to prepare for the second mold-master for Horsing Around (each mold gives 25 casts or thereabouts, so you may see me call it a one-mold run, even though it is two as there are likely to be fewer copies from these two molds than from Barry’s single mold for the US and global edition). Once that’s done I’ll be sorting the mold-master for Barry’s edition (each master is unlikely to survive the molding process sadly so a new one is required each time) and then I have a couple of commissions to work on which I am unable to share details of as yet, including a medallion for a rather high-profile show in the US which I’m really looking forward to as it features my favourite type of horse (I will be sculpting and mold-making, it will be cast in the US for the show), and also a MAJOR project - for the Utterly Horses Hullabaloo next August. I WIAHS I could tell you more but at this time I just can’t. I will likely be talking a great deal about this project in coming months, if I am allowed, of course!
Jasper is on hold during all these developments, however I have made it a bit of a pie-in-the-sky dream to have him finished before the wedding next May, however I don’t feel that is too likely given all these new projects. I may push forward with Little Too, as that is a little closer to completion (and is Adam’s favourite) though so hopefully I will still have another model for you next year, including of course the Very Little Lady model (to be renamed probably), aka the broodmare version of The Babysitter.
I’m sorry I can’t share any more info this time, this is such an exciting time for me creatively and personally and I am really looking forward to the next 12 months and all the fabulous new projects that will be going on!
